SSG Danilo Fernandez II
U.S. Army, Active Duty
I have been in the Army for more than 12 years and have been fortunate enough to serve all over the world – from Korea and Germany to Latin America and Iraq.
A memorable moment of mine is becoming a Military Policeman on September 11, 2001. Recently when it came time for me to re-enlist indefinitely, I was fortunate enough to be able to return to my birthplace of New York City and re-enlist at the 9/11 Memorial to honor the lives lost on 9/11.
I was also given the honor of being awarded the 2013 Military Police Officer of the Year for the Military District of Washington.
One of the most rewarding assignments I’ve had was being selected to serve as part of the protective service detail for the Combatant Commander of U.S. Southern Command in Miami, Florida.
I am proud to serve and work for the people of the United States. The instant gratification of helping people as a Military Policeman is very rewarding. I will continue my duties in the Army by serving as a United States Army Recruiter in South Florida. I look forward to enlisting the next generation of soldiers to serve this great country.
