Military Appreciation Honoree - CPT Nicholas Borrelli

CPT Nicholas Borrelli
U.S. Marine Corps, Veteran

On my first deployment as a Rifle Platoon Commander, I had the opportunity to share Christmas 2005 with my platoon and my father in Al Asad, Iraq before pushing out to our respective Areas of Operation.

Earlier in the year, my cousin Gary, a Marine Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart recipient, sent my father a few boxes of cigars to have over the duration of his deployment, but instead I ended up having the unique and incredible opportunity to share cigars with the fellow Marines in my platoon and my father over a bonfire together as a pre-mission Christmas celebration.

It was an absolute privilege to work with those incredible young men and to this day it brings tears to my eyes when I think about the glorious bond we had together and the honor it was to be their Platoon Commander.
