The Terrorist At Your Doorstep
He is relentless
He is within the walls of your house
He eats with your family
He pervades your thoughts as you sleep soundly in your bed
He thrives on your paranoia, your anxiety, your angst
He steals jetliners from foreign airports
He snakes his way across porous borders into our country
He infiltrates our major cities
He lies in wait like a cancerous cell
He murders the innocent in the name of His God
Ironically, on the eve of 9/11 the Washington Times has posted an article that His actions have “shaken America to it’s core”. A new poll claims people in the US feel less safe than at any point since 9/11. It’s easy to understand why we’ve been gripped by Him. We are inundated with the imagery of His brutal killings, beheadings and unspeakable cruelty. We’re told of a ruthless and growing enemy swallowing foreign lands on His march to the West. We are told that He has sneaked across our soft underbelly to the south and shown images of Him holding signs in front of our landmarks.
Let me be clear...He is not the Islamic State (ISIS), Al-Qaeda or any other terror group for that matter. The terrorist at your doorstep is Fear and only you can let Him bring you to your knees.
We are not a nation that has ever been, nor will ever be brought to it’s knees by Fear.
You know what happens when you “shake a nation to it’s core?” Like a wolf, it wakes up from it’s deep sleep and it is hungry. It is hungry, it is fearless and it is relentless. Congratulations on waking the wolf...now enjoy the ride.
Are the memories of our enemies so short that they fail to recall the ferocity of the bite of a nation unified in purpose? The actions of those who sought to encroach upon the very freedoms that we as Americans have defended with our blood unified not just a nation but a global community after the attacks of 9/11.
I believe a SEAL Team friend of mine put it best recently when he said, “the special operators were like caged animals post 9/11 and the howls only stopped when the leashes came off.”
Regardless of your political affiliation this administration and this nation sent a very clear message last night to those who seek to intimidate and destroy the foundation of freedom upon which this country has been built that the “leashes have come off”. In the words of our president we will “destroy” Islamic State in Iraq and the Syria terrorists. More precisely…”we will hunt down terrorists who threaten our country wherever they are…If you threaten America you will find no safe haven.”
So yesterday, on the Anniversary of 9/11, lets not forget that this started as and will always remain the “United” States. And yes we are the land of the free... but more importantly we are also the home of the Brave!
“The American people are so much stronger, so much more resolved than any enemy could fully understand,” “As a nation we are united, and when people harm Americans we don’t retreat. We don’t forget.” The U.S. will follow the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) “to the gates of hell.”

About Scott Seymour
The son of an avid outdoorsman and early waterman, Scott Seymour was born into an adventurous lifestyle. Having spent most of his formative years along the remote beaches of Baja California and the dusty backroads of nearly every mountain range on the western edge of North America he understands what its like to live off the beaten path and on the road less travelled. Those early years were spent diving, surfing, fishing, mountaineering, exploring, prospecting and getting lost and found literally and figuratively on a regular basis. While an atypical childhood it may have been, it forged an adventurous spirit and a thirst for life that has continued to guide him through adulthood.
As a collegiate volleyball player at UCLA, Scott developed a passion for teamwork and helping others meet their maximum potential. He went on to build a successful career leading and managing highly efficient sales teams for various national and global organizations. In 2008, feeling that familiar yearning for adventure he made a career 180 and for the past several years has worked as a bail and recovery agent in Southern California. Scott is also a registered EMT and first responder and will be starting the fire academy in January of this year with the goal of becoming a paramedic.
A self proclaimed “gear junkie” Scott can still be found most days researching and testing new equipment and strategies while stand up paddling, surfing or exploring the coastlines of Southern California or Mexico.
He resides in San Clemente with his wife and two junior watermen.
