The Terrorist At Your Doorstep

The Terrorist At Your Doorstep

The Terrorist At Your Doorstep

He is relentless

He is within the walls of your house

He eats with your family

He pervades your thoughts as you sleep soundly in your bed

He thrives on your paranoia, your anxiety, your angst

He steals jetliners from foreign airports

He snakes his way across porous borders into our country

He infiltrates our major cities

He lies in wait like a cancerous cell

He murders the innocent in the name of His God

Ironically, on the eve of 9/11 the Washington Times has posted an article that His actions have “shaken America to it’s core”. A new poll claims people in the US feel less safe than at any point since 9/11. It’s easy to understand why we’ve been gripped by Him. We are inundated with the imagery of His brutal killings, beheadings and unspeakable cruelty. We’re told of a ruthless and growing enemy swallowing foreign lands on His march to the West. We are told that He has sneaked across our soft underbelly to the south and shown images of Him holding signs in front of our landmarks.

Let me be clear...He is not the Islamic State (ISIS), Al-Qaeda or any other terror group for that matter. The terrorist at your doorstep is Fear and only you can let Him bring you to your knees.

We are not a nation that has ever been, nor will ever be brought to it’s knees by Fear.

You know what happens when you “shake a nation to it’s core?” Like a wolf, it wakes up from it’s deep sleep and it is hungry. It is hungry, it is fearless and it is relentless. Congratulations on waking the wolf...now enjoy the ride.

Are the memories of our enemies so short that they fail to recall the ferocity of the bite of a nation unified in purpose? The actions of those who sought to encroach upon the very freedoms that we as Americans have defended with our blood unified not just a nation but a global community after the attacks of 9/11.

I believe a SEAL Team friend of mine put it best recently when he said, “the special operators were like caged animals post 9/11 and the howls only stopped when the leashes came off.”

Regardless of your political affiliation this administration and this nation sent a very clear message last night to those who seek to intimidate and destroy the foundation of freedom upon which this country has been built that the “leashes have come off”. In the words of our president we will “destroy” Islamic State in Iraq and the Syria terrorists. More precisely…”we will hunt down terrorists who threaten our country wherever they are…If you threaten America you will find no safe haven.”

So yesterday, on the Anniversary of 9/11, lets not forget that this started as and will always remain the “United” States. And yes we are the land of the free... but more importantly we are also the home of the Brave!

“The American people are so much stronger, so much more resolved than any enemy could fully understand,” “As a nation we are united, and when people harm Americans we don’t retreat. We don’t forget.” The U.S. will follow the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) “to the gates of hell.”

Joe Biden - September 3rd, 2014

About Scott Seymour

The son of an avid outdoorsman and early waterman, Scott Seymour was born into an adventurous lifestyle. Having spent most of his formative years along the remote beaches of Baja California and the dusty backroads of nearly every mountain range on the western edge of North America he understands what its like to live off the beaten path and on the road less travelled. Those early years were spent diving, surfing, fishing, mountaineering, exploring, prospecting and getting lost and found literally and figuratively on a regular basis. While an atypical childhood it may have been, it forged an adventurous spirit and a thirst for life that has continued to guide him through adulthood.

As a collegiate volleyball player at UCLA, Scott developed a passion for teamwork and helping others meet their maximum potential. He went on to build a successful career leading and managing highly efficient sales teams for various national and global organizations. In 2008, feeling that familiar yearning for adventure he made a career 180 and for the past several years has worked as a bail and recovery agent in Southern California. Scott is also a registered EMT and first responder and will be starting the fire academy in January of this year with the goal of becoming a paramedic.

A self proclaimed “gear junkie” Scott can still be found most days researching and testing new equipment and strategies while stand up paddling, surfing or exploring the coastlines of Southern California or Mexico.

He resides in San Clemente with his wife and two junior watermen.

Scott - very powerful post. Makes us all stop and reflect on the things that make this nation great. Our freedom is something truly special in this world and is something everyone deserves.

Thank you. I worry sometimes that we forget just how fortunate we are and that our freedom sadly comes at a price.

The thing that people understand here, is that freedom does not come cheaply. It requires the blood of patriots occasionally. Bad guys, hitler, Stalin and others have always thought Americans are soft and won't fight. They have failed to read history books apparently! We have always bowed up to terrorists, dictators and anyone else trying to take our, and others, freedom. We have paid the bill for centuries with our Patriots and I believe we always will.

Very well said. Lets hope the President truly follows through with his words. Politicians talk, men of action talk little then get the job done.

Perfectly stated. Actions have always spoken louder than words and this is a time in American History that requires men and women of action.

THANK YOU. Truer words have not been spoken... In along while. In the past decade we have witnessed an ever changing world and not for the better. Too many have forgot the facts amid slanted media and a limp wristed government and those who stand watch, man a post or give body and soul to protect our way of life are greatly outnumbered. We must stay ever vigilant watch our six.

No, thank you! I appreciate your comment. You’re correct, those who stand watch over this great nation and sacrifice life and limb to protect our liberty are outnumbered, but we are also prepared to defend it to our last breath. I believe that as a nation we are strongest in times of great adversity and in the face of evil. Our backbone was forged by sacrifice and commitment long ago and remains unbroken and resolute.

This is a very well written article and I agree with it whole heartedly, However, I am confused as to who authorized, hired or commissioned a bounty hunter from San Clemente to be a spokesman for our great country. Is he a veteran!

J. Hartwig: Eric Davis here. Great question and observation. To know the "Speaker" and his or her motivation is always important. This is something I gave a lot of thought to and was a big concern Scott had when I asked him to contribute his talent and time to GovX. Regardless of our duty status "Active", "Reserve" "Law Enforcement", "Fire Fighter", or "Veteran" we all share a few things in common. 1st and foremost we "Serve" the "People". 2nd: Most often we serve them by protecting them or saving them. 3rd: We do this regardless of their political, personal or spiritual beliefs, protests or demands. Often the media chooses to share stories about "Civilians", or more pragmatically expressed our "Customers", complaints about "us". We actually have Americans burning the flag now. I thought for once it would be nice to let one of our "Fans" have a constant voice and represent the majority of Americans (Our customers who pay taxes and therefore our salaries) who love us "Veterans" and want to honor and contribute to what "We the people" are trying to do. Thanks again for the reply and I think you said it best when you said: "This is a very well written article and I agree with it whole heartedly" Eric

I am impressed and I agree with the manner in which we do come together, unite, under very sad situations. I only wish we could be Truly United States, every day, of every year. I know I'm prepared for several worst case scenarios. I hope that you all are too. When we Unite, it'll be quite the stand! I enjoy every day of my life to the fullest. I appreciate the simple things in my life: Mother Nature, spending time with my family, friends, and my two dogs. I do not let the terrorism in the world, scare me. I'm retired Air Force and know how to take care of myself and those around me. Until I am forced to do so, We travel, fish, camp, climb big rocks, backpack, appreciate what life truly has to offer. I wish for you all to do the same. Enjoy your lives now, right now, every moment, so that when we need to fight for it, you KNOW exactly, what your fighting for...Your Freedom! cd

First and foremost, thank you for your service. I don’t believe I could have said it any better. Those are words of true wisdom. I absolutely love your final statement..” Enjoy your lives now, right now, every moment, so that when we need to fight for it, you KNOW exactly, what your fighting for...Your Freedom!" Amen!

Thank you Scott for your post... (He) That so called Islamic state.... only is angry and upset because (he) does not enjoy the liberties and freedoms that we do because of their beliefs.... This is why those idiots are so hell bent on trying to destroy and put fear in us... I call them the walking dead because their time will be up very soon... As this administration has said Our Reach Is Long wasn't just talk.. it was sending a clear message that we do not fear you... we will hunt you down and take you out... Having served in the United States Marine Corps I believe that to be true... I fear no man should they decide to crawl into my back yard (He) will be taken to task...

I agree. Fear will consume you if you let it. Remember you have the power to push aside whatever thoughts you have about anything... Do not be a stricken by FEAR. Learn and grow stronger from it..

Awesome post, Scott. This young nation has seen a lot within and without the past 200 some-odd years. However, we're still here. And I don't think we will ever let anything happen to us one way or the other. Whether it's a wolf being awaken or a hornets' nest stirred; we're still underestimated, and because of that, known enemies do fear us. On top of that, they all forget, those of us who're veterans were technically never relieved of duty when we got out - so we're still every vigilant ourselves. I just hope that should it ever be imminent again that our citizens are in danger, politicians will allow us to do what we swore to do, and make sure we stick it to them one way or the other (it's a shame not much has been done since the beheadings).

Great post! We have to remember that, regardless of the name or face of the current enemy, FEAR is the only enemy capable of dividing us and defeating us. As long as we remain prepared, vigilant and UNITED, all of these yapping dogs will soon find out that big dogs don't yap...THEY BITE!

Love the article as well as many of the comments. My take on fear has always been that it works both ways kind of. Fear can, if you let it. Fear though can heighten your senses making you more aware of everything right down to feeling the blood moving through your veins. Fears is an emotion that exists whether we want it to or not. What we allow fear to do for us is our choice, as you and other have mentioned here. Fear in the hands of these hooligans, these people of baser motivations developed in corrupted minds twisted by rage, is a tool. They wield it like a maniac with a sledgehammer trying to drive in a nail. It has to be pointed out, at least in my opinion that terrorists know no boundaries of affiliation. They come in all shapes and sizes, and colors, and nationalities, and religious beliefs. Their only common thread is that they want to scare you into submitting to their wishes. In the end I hope they know they are trash and it is time to take out the trash, and if the trash struggles more, so be it, because it will only steel our resolve. Americans don't like losing at anything, and I think that is especially so for war. BTW I'm a gear junky too.

Amen brothers & sisters. Our adversaries , being blinded by zeal, must be re-educated as to what happens when you piss us off. Now all we need is someone in charge to "give war a chance" and smoke 'em.

Fear. Surely the weapon used by both, or all, involved in adversity. One of John Wayne's many good lines was; "Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway." Our enemy, the threat to our way of life, to our liberties, and to the freedoms so many have fought for, and even died or come home crippled for, has a strong representation in our government bent on this nation's destruction. Contrary to the ideal of these "United" States, this country is more divided now than ever since the 19th century. The time is coming that there will be difficult choices needing to be made by all. And if you choose not to decide, you still will have made a choice. Pray for revival.
